Season 01, Episode 02 – “The Ardeche”
Outdoorsman Ray Mears continues the series in which he explores some of France's most beautiful and unexplored regions and their flora and fauna. Ray travels to the Ardeche in south eastern France, a region characterised by gorges and limestone cliffs. He abseils down into a cave with a long history, where he finds a stunning array of stalactites and stalagmites, before crawling through narrow tunnels to see new chambers, sealed off from the public. He then journeys down the Ardeche river by canoe. He meets local wildlife ranger Olivier, who shows him a viperine snake and demonstrates some of the traditional uses of local plants.
