'The Pioneers' follows four families from South Dakota who trade in all their modern cons, to live a life atypical of that in the 1800s, as there ancestors would of.

Season 1, Episode 1 - “Hitting the Trail”
The pioneers set out on there journey of discovery, finding the piece of land they aim to settle in for the next three months. However a slow goat causes conflict, as does a downed tree which is in their path, as night approaches. Then the wagon breaks down as well.
