With only three applicants applying for the post of Curator of the Cultural Olympiad, Ian Fletcher and his team discover that it is really hard to choose the right applicant. They end up being forced several times to change their decision by outside bodies who insist that the last thing they are trying to do is interfere. Seb Coe also things it would look good if some of the team entered this year's London Marathon. Ian finds his marriage under pressure.
