Caros Fodor checked in at 155-and-one-half pounds for his Strikeforce Challengers 16 headliner with James Terry (pictured, 156) on Friday at the ShoWare Center in Kent, Wash. The eight other mixed martial artist booked for main card duty, including lightweights Ryan Couture (155.5) and Matt Ricehouse (155.5), also met their contracted weight requirements without incident at Thursday’s official weigh-in.
Fodor will carry a three-fight winning streak into the bout. The 27-year-old Kirkland, Wash., native last appeared at Strikeforce Challengers 15 in April, when he took out David Douglas with third-round knees at the Stockton Arena in Stockton, Calif. A Matt Hume protégé at AMC Pankration, Fodor has secured six of his eight professional victories by submission.
An All-American wrestler at Pima Community College, Terry, like his opponent, has also rattled off three consecutive wins. He has not competed since he knocked out Josh Thornburg in the first round at Strikeforce Challengers 15 in April. Terry, who trains under former Strikeforce middleweight champion Cung Le, has delivered all 10 of his career victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission.
