The Mavericks Invitational Surfing Competition off the coast of Pillar Point in Half Moon Bay, California is considered the Super Bowl of surfing. The forecasters have predicted that the waves today could reach a height of 45 feet. The prize money for this contest is 1st place is $12,000, 2nd place is $6,000 & 3rd place is $5,000. There are a total of 24 surfers from around the world that have entered the competition this year.
