Over six months, they have faced a series of challenges, each designed to test their sales ability, their product knowledge and their industry insight. It is now time for the final round. At a top London hotel, the judges spring one last test on the remaining 12 contestants to see who can keep a cool head under pressure. Each candidate is vying for a place at the Mobile Industry Awards and a chance to mingle with telecommunications captains of industry. It’s a once-in-a lifetime opportunity and the gloves are well and truly off. For Roland Ratvai of Three, it’s the final hurdle in his quest to better life for his young family. For Andy Gray from Fonehouse, it’s a chance to stand up for small businesses everywhere and do his nan proud. For EE candidates Gemma and Marc, both from the Poole branch, it is the moment of truth. Over six months, they have faced a series of challenges each designed to test their sales ability, their product knowledge and their industry insight. It is now time for the grand final. At a top London hotel, the remaining 12 duke it out for the ultimate prize. But while 11 have made it through on their own merit, the judges have been undecided as to whom to award the last place to – Marc Davies of EE in Poole or Kiet Nguyen of Three in Lewisham. They have put this last place to public vote and both teams are desperate to get their man into the final, by whatever means necessary. For Andy Gray, the final is an even more personal affair as he is missing an important family event to be there. Andy’s nan passed away during the regional finals but he has vowed to go all the way in her memory, even missing her funeral to get there. Others must battle their own personal demons as the judges once again ruthlessly expose every gap in knowledge. There is no place for weakness in this penultimate episode.

The ups and downs of Britain's mobile phone sales force as they battle it out in Shop Idol, a prestigious industry competition which aims to find the best mobile phone salesperson in the country.

Season 1, Episode 1 - "The Chosen Ones"
The competition launch sees the most ambitious phone shop staff receiving news that the top brass of the industry has put them forward to represent their company. The stakes are high and managers descend from head office to mentor the likes of Jonny Brown from EE, who won his own company award for best salesman, but despite his 10 years of experience, his manager thinks there is room for improvement and believes Jonny needs to up his game when it comes to his meet and greet and his smile. He faces tough competition from Maria Cooper, who used to sell marital aids for a well-known lingerie company before moving from checkout counter at Tesco to phones, emerging as Tesco Mobile's shining star. Maria fights to stay in the competition alongside 32 other sales associates deemed the very best, including cheeky geordie Andy from small independent retailer Fonehouse - a charismatic geek who fancies his chances. The first test is the Mystery Shop- a shopper who secretly films their customer approach. Their every move will be scrutinized - do they understand their customer's needs? Do they know their way around an HTC M8 with extra-large screen? The mystery visits are secretly filmed and - good or bad - posted online for the entire industry to see. Only half will go through to the next round.
