Jenny needs to use all her skills as a midwife as she and Sister Evangelina help at the birth of the Roberts’ baby, who is born with spina bifida. Nonnatus House plays host to an friend of Chummy’s, the Reverend Applebee Thornton, who is an eccentric cleric who befriends Jane.
