Season 17, Episode 05 –
Silverback Kesho is having his authority tested by a younger gorilla who seems to want to be leader of the pack. The bolshie behaviour is threatening the cohesion of the whole gorilla group, as Kate finds out.

Ben meets one of the park’s newest arrivals, an endangered pancake tortoise. With three other eggs in the incubator, the keepers are keeping their fingers crossed there will be more soon.

Why would you hide a cod liver oil capsule inside a dead mouse? Jean Johansson finds out at feeding time for a bachelor fennec fox who is looking for a soul mate.

Season 17, Episode 04 –
The park’s keepers have high hopes for their southern koala breeding programme as new boy Burke is showing signs of wanting to mate. Bellowing and spraying his scent everywhere is the rather unsubtle way he tries to attract the female koalas.

Kate witnesses an Animal Park first as the secretive spotted hyenas are captured on camera. She takes part in a covert operation to outwit these wily creatures in order to have their enclosure managed.

Ben looks back at the colourful life of Lord Bath, who oversaw the estate for over a quarter of a century. A huge figure at the heart of the park, under his watch new species arrived and endangered species breeding programmes flourishes.

Meanwhile, Jean Johansson tries not to fall into the lake as she takes part in training to save a man overboard.

Season 17, Episode 03 –
In today’s programme, keepers Graeme and James travel to the other side of the world to help in the Australian bushfire rescue. Four of the park’s koalas have come from the area of south Australia worst affected, and the staff feel a deep sense of connection and are moved to help. They film their experience as they witness the devastation caused by the bushfires.

Kate rolls up her sleeves and helps to tackle the 100 kilos of dung produced daily by Anne the elephant. Now in her sixties, she is one of the park’s oldest residents, and her dung shows that her teeth are still in fine working order.

Ben may have scaled Everest and sailed the Atlantic, but can he rise to the challenge of motivating an overweight monitor lizard? And how do you feed a giraffe when it towers above you? Jean Johansson gets her daily exercise finding out.

Season 17, Episode 02 –
The keepers are alarmed to discover a large open wound under tiger Yuki’s chin. Despite the high risk involved in sedating a tiger, they have no choice but to operate. When things don’t go according to plan, the keepers and vets are faced with a second painful decision.

Ben and Rio the cockatoo have never really hit it off, so Kate tries her hand at charming one of the park’s most difficult but charismatic animals. The staff at the park are constantly inventing fresh ways to keep the animals entertained, and today it’s the turn of the white rhinos to try something new. Jean Johansson lays on some detoxing charcoal logs at a special rhino spa.
